46 Days. It’s not worth posting the weights of the puppies anymore. They are all huge and way over 10lbs. In fact the majority of them are heavier than both Lilly and Bella when I brought them both home for the first time at 8 weeks respectfully. Why well good upbringing. Every single puppy in this littler has been hand reared with our help, we made sure that at every feed none of them was ever left out and now it shows. Big healthy puppies and getting ready for their new homes. The weaning process has been fun. Feeding them mashed up kibbles with a side bowl of dry kibbles. A few of the puppies kept eating the mashed up, were as the others started on the dried straightaway, it was just what they preferred. Now we have to keep Lilly out from them for two days to let her dry up. We have reduced her food intake and it’s naturally starting to happen. She is getting her figure back. The crate training is also underway. One of my gripes with the past breeders that I bought my dogs from was the fact that they never introduced the puppies to a crate. Both times my two were left out in a pen so that when they were introduced to the crate they didn’t like it. We took the whelping box away last week and put the big crate in so that they can all sleep together. Then through the day we can close the door get them use to be crated and clean up or generally have some quality time. They make a little noise to start with but settle down after a few minutes. It’s going to be so much easier for the new owners to crate them from day one. Now outside is wonderful to them. They have had their first round of jabs and are clear to go and explore, which happens all the time. The vet gave them a clear bill of health and was very happy with their progress. They even now know that going to the toilet outside is a good thing and as soon as you take them out everyone tends to go. I sometimes feel like the “pied piper of Hamlet” when I go outside with them all, I have a string of 6 puppies running after me wherever I go. They also come to their own whistle that I have created; it’s deliberately different to the sound I use for their Mother and Auntie so they know to come to that sound. These are all the very early training traits you need to instill from very early on. Only two weeks to go until they are ready to go. They tend to go in two waves. First wave is 8 weeks and if they don’t go then we hold them until 10 weeks. It can be a little up setting for them if they leave in the 9 week period after some of their siblings have gone. Ely Wellington’s (Mr. Green) new owners came to see him, he is going to a wonderful home and they already have another fawn female for Ely to have fun with. His ears are going to be cropped and he will look very regal with that procedure. Mr. Orange Rocky’s parents are getting ready for their arrival, keeping updated on the site. Ms. Yellow now Athena is very much looking forward to her new home and Mr. Blue PDogg as everyone keeps calling him is visited weekly by his new family. Mr. Red and Ms, Purple are still to find homes. However, if Ms. Purple wants to stay here with Granddad that would be fine with me, more to follow as we move up to the last few days.
